I have finally found pre-series fanfiction about the Dixon brothers that:

1. Does justice to both characters
2. Doesn’t attempt to whitewash their flaws
3. Has a strong plot
4. Is written by someone with a fantastic understanding of what it takes to build a compelling story…AND who lovingly respects the English language
5. Doesn’t shoehorn in an OC female specifically for annoying love-interest purposes, thank God.
6. Gives the brothers a backstory that rings achingly true

I do recommend reading the author, Praxid’s prequel to this story, Little Janie Reed, since it sets up the shared world beautifully and leads directly into the opening of this story. There is also a sequel in the works, Down in the Willow Garden; thus far is is proving to be a delightful little murder mystery with Caryl overtones. Again, the respect done to all the characters makes me virtually jubilant.

What the hell.  I’m also going to recommend the author’s other story, Death and the Maiden, a tight little one-shot featuring Beth Greene.

Horrifying.

Okay, so everyone is losing their shit over the idea that TV favorite character Daryl Dixon may be debuting in the comic with this new story arc…and the artwork for the character in the 6th panel seems to be confirmation.  That’s great.  It really is. 

I’m actually more heartened by the idea that we might get Merle Dixon as well, but that’s just me.

What I do find particularly interesting is that all the poses of these mystery characters presented are head-on, threatening and aggressive…except for the supposed Daryl panel. 

I fucking hate that I have to wait until this makes it to trades to read it.  *grumbles*

I have feeeeelings about this.  I want Merle to come back just to a) see how badly he fucks everyone up emotionally, 2) watch him make people bleed, one way or another, and Tri) ends up doing something so self-sacrificial and pure (possibly right before dying) that everyone’s soul gets ripped right out of their nostrils.  And I want him to be a total douchebag the entire time.
